PM Narendra Modi launched the Rooftop Solar Scheme for Free Electricity in the State. This Scheme was launched on 13 February 2024 to Provide 300 Units Free Electricity to the 1 Crore Eligible Households of the Country. Assam Solar Rooftop Scheme is to promote the use of solar rooftops in residential households as a source of electricity that will help save electricity bills and earn additional income through the sale of surplus power to APDCL.

Benefits
Subsidy of 60% of System Cost for 2 kW Systems and 40% of Additional System Cost for Systems between 2 to 3 kW Capacity.
Under the Scheme Subsidy of Rs. 30,000 for 1 kW System, Rs. 60,000 for 2 kW System and Rs. 78,000 for 3 kW System.
Households will apply from the PM Surya Ghar Portal, This Portal Aids the Household Regarding Calculators and vendor Ratings.
Households will be able to access the collateral-free low-interest loan products of Around 7% at present for the Installation of Solar rooftop systems up to 3 kW.

PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana Subsidy
Subsidy of Rls. 30,000 for 1 kW, Rs. 60,000 for 2 kW, and Rs. 78,000 for 3 kW.
Assam Government Provides Subsidy of Rs. 15,000 for 1 kW, Rs. 30,000 for 2 kW, and 45,000 for 3 kW.
State Subsidy will be Provided in addition to Central Subsidy available from the Government of India which will be disbursed by APDCL to the Same Bank Account of Consumer.
